He is sitting up really well now, eating fruits, veggies, grains and beans and cottage cheese. (We're doing it all homemade-style and I am really enjoying making his little "meals.") He is army crawling everywhere, he gets up on all fours and in a down dog position (on his elbows) several times a day. He loves to explore, to bang things, he likes to crawl under the piano and whines when he gets stuck in the legs of the bench. He will crawl to our feet and pat them when he wants us to pick him up. If we leave the room for a moment, he follows us promptly, he's just not as fast as we are, which troubles him.
This is Jasper about a month ago. Little man is sproutin' a hairdo! I thought he might have been getting some curls there. I'm still suspicious, but can neither confirm nor deny their existence at this point.
And yes, that was Boston in the background! He turns one year old a week from today and I can hardly believe it! They recently moved to San Diego and made a stop by here on their way back from a weekend visit. It was SO fun to see them.
Jasper in his strawberry bib I bought him from London last year. He LOVES butternut squash, LOVES IT! We actually had an incident where he ate 2 lbs. of it in 4 days, and that he had a bit of trouble with on the 5th day, let's put it that way. He's a sport. He also loves bananas, carrots, mango, black beans, red bell pepper, blueberries, and plums (as of tonight.) He does fairly well with broccoli and avocado, and the only thing he seems really disinterested in is peas. Can't seem to crack the pea code. We're working on the green vegetables generally, I suppose.

How he loves his daddy. Who wouldn't? He's amazing. Jake was born to be a father. There are honestly times when we fight over who gets to get Jasper out of the car and hold him (particularly when he's sleeping.)
This is how he "sucks" his thumb, like a chew toy. He'll stick it in there every once in a while if there's nothing more interesting within reach.

This was the day we left to visit Arizona, also known as the day the squash came out (TMI! TMI!) Anyway, poor little Jasper wiped himself out, and we took advantage of the extra snuggle time. (You think you love your husband 'til you see him sleeping with your baby! The love in the house could shatter the windows in moments like these!!)
We took a trip home for our 8th anniversary and took Jasper to his first movie: The Muppets. He was phenomenal. Watched, slept, nursed, roll credits. It was perfect.
Jacob has had a little break from work, and we've taken the best advantage we can with it. Here we are as a family at the library story time.
This is Jasper and his friend, Jane, who's four months older than him, both in the arms of Megan, Sarah's sister-in-law who's visiting for the week with her family. Jane's mama, Rachel, (not pictured here though she was there today) and I have gotten together a few times with our kiddies and I think it's pretty fun. I honestly think Jasper gets excited to see people his size. Jane and her mama are sweet as can be.
Power play, power nap. This kid is so awesome. He just amazes me with how much personality he already has at 8 months old. It is VERY clear what he likes and dislikes, he always has an opinion (sounds like his mama) and he makes it known. He ALWAYS likes to play, always likes music, always likes a party (sounds like a Moffat!) We love him and love all the new pieces of him we learn with the passing months.
This is a darling hat my friend, Erin, made for him. She wanted me to take some pictures of him in it for her own records, so we decided to make a photo shoot of it. Quite expressive, this one!
And afterwards we went to the park. It was only Jasper's second time in a swing. His cousin, Evie, pushed him in a swing in Arizona when we visited them, then Daddy got to push him here after story time. He was LAUGHING he just loved it! This boy loves swinging, jumping, bouncing, stroller running. He likes action, he likes noise, he likes to go fast--already!
And today, on his 8-month birthday, we had a real treat! Sarah treated us to a zoo trip! As you can imagine, this sort of zoo trip would play to many of Jasper's favorite things: strolling in the stroller, being held lots and lots, noise, the outdoors. He and I both had a lot of fun.

When other people post a million and one pictures of their kids, it's boring. But when you do it, it's AWESOME! He is so flipping adorable.
The hat looks soooo cute on him! Thanks for taking all the pictures! :) xoxo
Such a cutie! It was fun spending time off with you! Hope to do it again soon! Happy 8 months Jasper!
Emily - What kind of stroller is that in the bottom pic??? Is it umbrella? It looks like he has sooo much shade while he sleeps. I might buy a new one for Cole in a couple months, so just wondering.
Your little guy is just too cute!
I am with you... I can't believe how big he has gotten! Love the cute hat pictures!
